March 6, 2008 2008 St. Louis Park State of the City At the 2008 St. Louis Park State of the City on March 6, residents, business owners and city officials came together to learn about current city issues, accomplishments and economic development and redevelopment projects. The event was one of seven similar programs TwinWest co-hosted in 2008 with communities in its region. The entire St. Louis Park program was broadcast on Park TV 17. Watch story.
March 5, 2008 Transit agency to study rail plan The Federal Transit Administration has approved the start of environmental study on the proposed Southwest Corridor Light Rail Transit line from Minneapolis to Eden Prairie. February 28, 2008 Eat, drink and be merry: TwinWest Gala set for March 14 in Brooklyn Park The TwinWest Chamber of Commerce hopes to connect its members with their creative sides at its 23rd-annual Gala. The event's theme - "Imagine" - was chosen to convey an art-inspired feel, said Victoria Marley, the chamber's director of events and programs. Read more.
February 27, 2008 TwinWest Chamber pushed for transportation bill passage The TwinWest Chamber of Commerce joined the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce in supporting the 10-year, $6.6 billion transportation package the Minnesota Legislature passed last week by overriding Gov. Tim Pawlenty's veto. Read more.
February 15, 2008 With its FIRST grant funds, TwinWest will immediately begin work on two initiatives: 1) creating a regional economic development identity and resource center, and 2) developing and implementing sector-specific skills-training programs in area schools and postsecondary institutions. February 6, 2008 Twin Cities North president to take position with TwinWest Bruce Nustad, president of the Twin Cities North Chamber of Commerce, will be serving in that capacity for one more month before moving on to take a similar position with another suburban chamber. A majority of the TwinWest chamber's members come from west-metro communities including Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Crystal, Golden Valley, Hopkins, Medicine Lake, Minnetonka, New Hope, Plymouth and St. Louis Park. January 31, 2008 TwinWest names new president; Twin Cities North Chamber of Commerce boss to lead TwinWest Shoreview resident Bruce Nustad said he learned through the grapevine that the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce was in the market for a new president. Last week, he got the job. The TwinWest Board of Directors announced Nustad's hire Jan. 30. He will succeed Barb Obershaw as the chamber's new president March 4. Obershaw announced her retirement last fall after serving as president for the five years. Read more.
January 23, 2008 Seniors can apply for TwinWest scholarships High school seniors from member schools may apply for scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $7,500, with an average amount of $1,000 awarded per recipient. The program is open to graduating high school seniors with post-secondary education plans from Hopkins, St. Louis Park, Robbinsdale-Armstrong, Robbinsdale-Cooper, Minnetonka, Wayzata, Benilde-St. Margaret's and Brooklyn Center high schools. January 2, 2008 Top Minnetonka newsmakers of 2007 Barb Obershaw, president of the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce, announced she would be stepping down at the end of 2007. Obershaw served five years as TwinWest president after serving five years as president of the Burnsville Chamber of Commerce. Read more.
December 20, 2007 Hopkins students to be representatives on the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce Beginning in January, students at Hopkins High School will become active members of the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce. Read more.
December 14, 2007 Minnetonka City Council clearing way for Nestle headquarters TwinWest Chamber of Commerce President Barb Obershaw said that by providing this loan to Nestle, hundreds of state jobs would be saved."We are talking about a total of 700 jobs staying in Minnesota," she said. Read more.
