STEM Summit School Participation

stem_promo2TwinWest is pleased to host our 5th Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) Summit on March 19, 2013 at the Hopkins Center for the Arts.

This year's STEM Summit will run similar to past years. We are offering you access to two different sessions in March.  The a.m. session (9:00-11:00 a.m.) is designed for ninth graders.  The p.m. session (12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.) is geared toward 6-8 graders.

We have space for approximately 150 students at each of these sessions.  As such, your school is allocated roughly 30 spaces at each session.  Note that due to the two separate sessions offered, lunch is not provided for the students, however snacks will be available.

If you are not familiar with the format, area businesses and organizations provide interactive demonstrations to promote student interest in taking STEM-related classes.  After a brief welcome, students will have the organized opportunity to visit each of the displays and interact with the exhibitor. Students will earn tickets at each display and have the opportunity to win prizes at the end of the session.

Past results of this event have been great.  When surveyed, 72 percent of the student participants indicated a higher likelihood to take STEM-related courses.
