Through Workforce Ready!: Fueling the Precision Manufacturing Engine, established in 2008, TwinWest is developing gap skills training programs for the precision manufacturing industry in the west metro region. Using a collaborative approach, we are convening stakeholders – including employers, postsecondary educational institutions, area school districts, local officials, workforce specialists and other business leaders – to develop and strengthen customized training programs in area schools and postsecondary institutions.

Workforce Ready!: Fueling the Precision Manufacturing Engine is funded in part by a $50,000 Framework for Integrated Regional Strategies (FIRST) grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). The FIRST grant program was created to promote sustainable collaborations that will increase a region's economic competitiveness.

The Economic Development Association of Minnesota (EDAM) has honored the Workforce Ready! Collaborative convened by the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce with its 2009 “Partnership” Award. This award goes to a project that is the result of collaborative efforts on the part of multiple jurisdictions and/or organizations.  The Economic Development Awards were presented on June 17th at EDAM’s Summer Conference in Deerwood, MN.
