Business Education Partnership Programming

DSC_0115TwinWest’s Business Education Partnership (BEP) initiative is a long-standing effort to align today’s education programs with tomorrow’s workforce needs. We engage our business members with with our five school district partners in meaningful and dynamic ways.

TwinWest's BEP programs include:

- Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Summit with the Hopkins, Minnetonka, Robbinsdale, St. Louis Park, and Wayzata school districts. This year's program will take place in March, 2013, 8:00a.m.-3:00p.m. at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. The STEM Summit is geared toward middle school students and features a trade show atmosphere in which area businesses exhibit an aspect of their profession that is related to STEM subject areas. Students leave with a renewed interest in STEM subjects and the job opportunities they provide.

- Ethics in the Workplace with the Hopkins, Minnetonka, Robbinsdale, St. Louis Park, and Wayzata school districts will be held at the Minnetonka Community Center. An all day event for high school juniors, this program leads students through exercises designed to help them define their core values and explore how those values affect the various ethical decisions that business people make on a daily basis. Chamber members serve as table leaders and present a real-life ethical dilemma to their small group of students.

- Workplace tours, classroom speakers/volunteers, mentorships and internships are coordinated through the Chamber office on an as-needed basis.
