April 24, 2008--TwinWest Foundation Awards $78,000 in Scholarships to Local High School Students The TwinWest Chamber of Commerce Foundation has chosen 72 local graduating high school students who will receive a total of $78,000 in scholarships for college and vocational programs this year. The Foundation saw a greater scholarship demand than ever this year, receiving a record-breaking 230 applications in 2008, up 100 from 2007.
April 7, 2008 --TwinWest Chamber Announces 2008 Entrepreneur of the Year and Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Finalists The TwinWest Chamber of Commerce has announced the finalists for its 2008 Entrepreneur of the Year and Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year awards. Each of the six individuals has been chosen for his exceptional drive, business savvy and commitment to his employees and community. The two award winners will be named on Thursday, May 15 at TwinWest’s 2008 Small Business Awards Luncheon: Playing the Entrepreneurial Game.
February 12, 2008--TwinWest Chamber of Commerce Awarded $45,000 FIRST Grant The TwinWest Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce it was named one of the recipients of a $45,000 Framework for Integrated Regional Strategies (FIRST) grant. FIRST, a grant program funded by Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), was created to promote sustainable collaborations that will increase a region's economic competitiveness. With its FIRST grant funds, TwinWest will focus on developing gap skills training programs for the precision manufacturing industry in the west metro region.
January 29, 2008--TwinWest Chamber Announces Bruce Nustad as President The TwinWest Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Bruce Nustad has been hired as its new president. In this role, Nustad will lead the TwinWest staff in its service to businesses and communities throughout TwinWest’s 10-city footprint. He will begin his role as TwinWest president on March 4, 2008.
November 21, 2007--TwinWest Chamber Announces new Regional Sales Director The TwinWest Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Kevin Melott has been hired as a regional sales director. In this role, Melott is responsible for recruiting new business members from TwinWest’s 10-city footprint to grow, strengthen, and diversify the Chamber membership, which currently stands at approximately 1,000 businesses.
October 16, 2007--TwinWest President Barb Obershaw to “Semi-retire” at Year’s End The TwinWest Chamber of Commerce today announced Barb Obershaw will step down on December 31, 2007. Obershaw will enter “semi-retirement” and plans to spend more time with family and loved ones. The TwinWest Board of Directors will immediately begin the search for her successor. October 11, 2007-- TwinWest Chamber Announces New Directors on Board The TwinWest Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce several changes to its leadership this month. Nine Chamber members have been elected to serve on the TwinWest Board of Directors: Jerry Archambeau, Grand Casino Mille Lacs & Hinckley; Jeff Arnold, TCF Bank; Becky Bakken, Citizens Independent Bank; Dannette Coleman, Medica; Constance Doepke, independent fashion marketing consultant; Dan Goldman, Twin Realty Investment Co.; Rick Kaufman, Kings Financial Corporation; Tim Raymond, Voyager Bank; and Mike Sowada, VISI.
October 4, 2007-- TwinWest Chamber of Commerce Plans Tour of TURCK to Celebrate Minnesota Manufacturer's Week In recognition of Minnesota Manufacturer's Week (October 22-26, 2007), the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce will tour TURCK Inc.’s manufacturing plant in Plymouth. The tour will take place Monday, October 15, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at 5000 Fernbrook Lane North, Plymouth MN 55446. |
