Register for Minnesota Veterans Career Fair
Connect with veterans at the 12th Annual Minnesota Veterans Career Fair set for July 18.
“Veterans bring the skills, passion, and commitment Minnesota businesses need today,” said Jim Finley, director, veterans employment service at the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). “Hiring veterans is not good will, but good business.”
The Minnesota Veterans Career Fair is the largest veterans career fair of its kind in the state, and will be attended by several hundred veterans seeking new opportunities, according to Finley.  The annual event is sponsored by DEED in collaboration with the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs.
SpartanNash, a distributor of grocery products to U.S. commissaries, has been an exhibitor several times in the last six years.
“We seek veterans to join our company because of their strong work ethic, leadership skills and ability to work individually and as a team,” said Mary Beth Pickett, talent acquisition specialist at SpartanNash.
Gaining exposure to veterans seeking jobs is the most important benefit of participation, according to Pickett. Networking with Twin Cities veterans groups and building awareness of SpartanNash and its products are other advantages, she added.
The event typically attracts local and statewide media including network TV, radio and print publications across the state.
Pickett will represent SpartanNash at the event and highly recommends that other companies register for the event as well.
The Veterans Career Fair will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Earle Brown Heritage Center, 6155 Earle Brown Drive, Brooklyn Center.
Space is limited, so employers are urged to register now. Visit mn.gov/deed/events/veterans.jsp for more information or to register. For more details to participate as an exhibitor, contact Eveline Vanda at Eveline.Vanda@state.mn.us or 651-259-7298.
If your company cannot participate in this year’s event, you can still register with the state’s online job bank, MinnesotaWorks.net and search for Military. MinnesotaWorks.net has
